The abseiling platform stands proudly at the top of our 15M Climbing Wall, ready and waiting for brave adventurers to take the leap—quite literally and glide down to the ground below!
From the very top, climbers are treated to a panoramic view of the Hilltop woodland surroundings. It’s the perfect moment to pause, take a deep breath, and soak in the scenery before leaning back into the descent.
The word “abseil” comes from the German term meaning “to rope down”. It is also widely known by its French name, “rappel”, which describes a controlled and safe descent down a vertical surface.
Under the guidance of our qualified instructors, children learn how to handle the rope and equipment with confidence. Just like on our treetop trail activity, children get the chance to take responsibility into their own hands. They lean back over the edge, place their trust in the rope, and gently lower themselves backwards from the top of the platform—an empowering moment that builds confidence, coordination, and courage.
So, step up, clip in, take in the view, and peek over the edge…
Look down if you dare!
- Taking responsibility into their own hands
- Proactively risking taking by using our challenge by choice ethos
- Courage and Bravery
